Can't believe that it's August ALREADY.
This summer has certainly flown by. I can't believe that three months ago, I was still in London and travelling Europe. CAN'T believe it. The summer's almost over! Well, what I mean is, the break is almost over.
In June, I got my drivers license (FINALLY) and I've been driving around as much as I can, because I love it! I've been working for Bill Roy over at UCLA since June... which has been an insightful experience, to be sure. I hung out a few times with Aimee and Naomi before they left for Indonesia (Bali, etc)... and with Schadi... a lot more than I thought I could.
In July, more fun ensued - on the weekend of the 4th, my family and I went to Las Vegas - where I got to gamble for the first time EVER! Winning is FUN... Getting carded 7 times in ONE day is NOT... heheh... AND, of course the 16th was THE best day of the summer! If you need to ask why... I don't even want to know you! (if you really don't know - think... HARRY POTTER). Hung out with Semnani's and friends to celebrate Schadi's b-day... where I met Celine... who lives and studies in Paris... but looks JUST like Christina! FREAKY. I met with Jeani - my old Oboe teacher... oh... the good ol' times.... haha... I ordered my Muramatsu flute... Oh... I finally went to a dentist (I haven't seen one in over a decade due to lack of insurance, etc.).
Which brings us to today... August 1st, 2005, Monday. My mom went to the Dr. FINALLY and got a CT scan after an endoscopy exam... And, the results were good. Went to UCLA for the usual work - but ended up staying for like five hours because I was researching for Bill... looking at 50 years-old magazines... heheh... it was fun... definitely not done yet - only got through to about 1968/69. Then... I got kicked out of the library because it was closing... then I came back to the apartment to change real quick, then it was off to dinner with Jordan, Liz (aka Lance), and Schadi. It was a late, late meal - and though I hadn't eaten since 9AM (we met up at like 8:30pm) I got full... after eating the clams off my dish. What a waste... but SO GOOD. Then, as promised, I bought Schadi her glass of Pinot Noir and I tried to pay for Jordan's Corona, but of course, he refused... What can I say...? He's a nice kid. It was awesome to see Liz again - hadn't seen her since we met at the Whiskey when Chris, et al. was playing there. She's a sweet girl - and it's too bad we didn't talk a lot in hs... except when I was pestering her about flute! Anyways, after a good, long dinner and dessert - I drove everybody home, except for Schadi... hehe... It was a great day today and it was a great way to start the month and week!
Tomorrow... a return trip to the dentist... then meet up with Cat for our weekly meeting, then pick up my new flute at some point! I can't wait!
Well, that was all the boring points of my life that I an spew out for tonight... Good night all.
Cheers,
Soo Mee
